New from JJB-Electronics comes the newest addition to our Artist series
line of pickups, THE ELITE 430! Our Artist Series line of pickups are
constructed with the finest components available today! In fact, they are
the same components that are used by the "big-box" companies that sell
their systems for more than twice as much! The latest release from our
new Artist Series, The Elite - 430.
These are built using very high quality 20mm piezo's. We can now offer to
substitute these for 15mm piezo's upon request. Please select the
desired size from the drop-down menu above. This configuration is
designed for guitars which do not provide enough space on the
bridgeplate to allow for the bigger sized piezo's. Both systems have a
very similar tone but the smaller system provides a little less output than
the bigger sized system. In many cases this slight difference is negated by
the higher resonance of a smaller bridgeplate. These can be used with or
without a preamp with fantastic results. These are ideal if you desire a
less defined bass and mid-range output. They are designed for more
resonant guitars or ones with thinner soundboards.
It utilizes a triple surface transducer design. This results in a very wide
frequency range and very natural reproduction of sound. The three-piezo
configuration offers a few advantages over single and double piezo
systems. Having three piezo’s affords you the opportunity to place them at
three different points on the soundboard thus resulting in an improved
dynamic range due to the fact that they transmit the resonation found at
more than one point. These special surface transducers are under less
pressure than under saddle pickups thus decreasing the likelihood of
them transmitting a percussive or harsh sound. Each piezo is designed to
pick up a string pair as well as the resonation found in a significant
amount of the soundboard. These do not "fade" or distort at high volume
or with high-power systems. The highs are crystal clear while the lows are,
what they should be, low!
This system utilizes a premium quality Switchcraft 1/4” nickel plated mono
end-pin jack. This system will give you a very “clean” install for those who
do not want to compromise the integrity of their beloved instrument. The
end-pin jack also doubles as a strap button. The volume and tone controls
let you tune in the exact sound that you are looking for. These are built
with enough cabling to allow you to mount the volume and tone controls
on the upper bout of any standard dreadnought sized guitar. For
applications requiring a little less, or more cabling, don't hesitate to send
us an email noting the details of your application. We will respond
promptly, and should be able to facilitate your request.
This pickup configuration is offered in several high end guitars. All of our
products feature quality components and construction. These will work
great in a variety of instruments. Mandolins, ukulele’s, bass guitars, banjo’
s, violins, dobro’s, dulcimers, stomp boxes, etc. The possibilities are
endless! These, like all of our systems, can be installed in about 15
minutes! They are a very simple and inexpensive means of turning your
acoustic instruments in to acoustic electric.

Installation;
Tools you will need;
A drill
A 1/2 drill bit
A 3/8 drill bit
A small amount of super glue gel
Masking tape
Pliers
Installation of the endpin jack:
1. Drill or widen the endpin hole to 1/2" using protective tape to cover the area around the hole. This helps to prevent chips and
scratches.
2. Unscrew the endpin jack's strap mount knob
3. Remove the nut and washer.
4. Determine the thickness of your end block and set the nut on the cap accordingly. Once in place, screw the cap against it to
secure the nut.
5. Insert the jack from the inside into the endpin hole.
TIP: a chopstick or something similar helps to get a hold of the jack and pull it through the hole.
6. Attach outside washer and nut and tighten. Attach the end knob.
Installation of the volume and tone controls;
1. Mark the desired locations for the jack, volume, and tone knobs using a pencil.
2. Remove the strings to provide easier access inside the soundhole.
3. Carefully drill the holes using the 3/8 paddle bit for the jack and the ¼ bit for the volume and tone knobs.
4. Remove the nut and washer from the jack. Remove the nut and washer from the volume and tone controls.
5. Install the jack, tone and volume controls by pushing them through the holes from the inside. Replace the
nut and washer on each, then the volume and tone knobs.
Transducer installation –
It does not matter in which position you install any of the 3 pickups. The installation spots
are identical. Each pickup should be placed between two of the bridge pins. (see diagram)
Once you determine where you would like to mount the piezo's, attach them to the inside of the guitar top by placing a drop of super-
glue on each piezo (one at a time) and hold it in place for about 45 seconds.
We cannot be responsible for guitar damage caused by installation.
